Hot Spot is a diver’s favourite for thrilling pelagic encounters. This offshore pinnacle rises to just 5 metres from ocean depths of 300–400 metres, attracting shoals of baitfish and the big predators that follow them. On tidal swings, expect a spectacle of feeding action as sharks, trevally, and other pelagics cruise through. Despite coral loss after the 2007 earthquake and tsunami, marine life remains abundant, and turtles are often seen stopping by for a gentle cleaning.
